Just another random post.

Happy Monday to you all! We have had quite a month of June if I do say so myself, and it isn't even over yet!
Before I really get started I would like to pause here to say pretty much any time I take out my camera I think, "This is going on the blog." The bad news is, I'm horrible about putting it on here in a timely manner so when I do finally get around to updating, my posts are always pretty much random information because I am trying to share everything over the course of weeks in one little post. With that said, this post will be no exception.
First off, house update. We are currently waiting on the inspection/appraisal and we should find something out either today or tomorrow *fingers crossed*. I can't tell you how ready I am to find out some news, even if it's bad at least we will know what our next move will be. I'm a bit of a five year old when it comes to waiting, so this has been killing me!
Speaking of the house, we went by it yesterday and this may be a little too soon, you know, considering it isn't really ours yet, but I had to share this picture.

EEEEK!!! I know! It's a wonderful back yard and this is only one angle of it, there is more behind me! Johnathan says it's going to be a football field, but wouldn't it make an amazing garden??? Maybe he will share a little piece with me. We could go all Secret Garden on that junk!

Secondly, look at this amazingly cute baby (and daddy ;)).

Getting her started early. Major kudos to anyone who can name that book. :)

2 things: 1. Look at that precious baby! 2. Can you tell I have found the best place in our apartment for natural light?

I know. I'm a horrible mother, I gave my baby chocolate! (*GASP), but you only live once and she really likes it! She looks like a Frenchman, a chocolate-lovin' Frenchman.

Annnnd, last, but certainly not least, I wanted to share a little bit of Johnathan's and my craftiness. (Johnathan's and my? Is that right? I think it's right, but I'm not sure. I'll have to get my editor husband to check it for me.)
O.k., back before Daisy was born and we started searching for things we would need for the new baby my mama stumbled across this beaut at a flea market.

She purchased it for a whopping $25. Now, if you know Johnathan and me then you know we are suckers for anything vintage/antique-ish/eclectic/just plain old/junk that can be re-purposed/etc. Hello! This is the girl who dumpster dives. I firmly live by the rule,"One man's trash is another man's treasure." I'm the treasure man in that scenario. Every time. Anywho, I digress. So, mama purchased it for us and as you can see by the picture it's old and honestly probably not up to code with high chairs these days, but the way I look at it is my parents and grandparents used them and survived. Right?
Anyway, we get it home and realize one of the dowels is missing (if you notice in the picture you can see where the 6th one should be). So of course being us we figured out a way to make it even more awesome than it already is, and now that Daisy is ready to start sitting in it we decided to get it ready. So this past week we headed over to Wal Mart and purchased some new dowels for a whopping 50 cents a piece. They were long, so we only needed two to do the job. Total = $1.00

I didn't get an actual pic. of the dowels, so this picture is courtesy of Factory Direct Craft

We got them home and Johnathan got to sawin'.
You know, I take a lot of credit for crafts, but Johnathan does most of the work. I just take pictures. That is my contribution. :)
One of the original dowels, gone. :)

Done!
After getting all of the old dowels out, Johnathan sawed down and painted the new ones using paint we already had on hand. He put the new ones in with a hammer and.....

Ta da! Isn't it lovely?? I love how the colors pop against the wood finish. We are pretty pleased with how it turned out, and even more pleased that the whole thing cost us $1.00. Wow wee! I love a good deal!
And those old dowels? Of course we didn't just throw them away!

We re-purposed the mess out of 'em! Pretty cool display if you ask me. :)

So there ya have it. Not too random, but still random. I'm not going to say I'll do better, because let's be honest, I probably won't. :)

  1. Tessa, as long as you post, we don't care how random it is - we just love to hear the news of your "little" family! Look at her on her tummy reading with her dad.....who cares if it might be "Harry Potter"?

  2. I agree with Sis. This is how those of us that aren't local to you keep up with y'all. I absolutely love the pic of her and Johnny reading! I had to snag that one for my pictures.

  3. Thanks for sharing some pics of little miss cutie pie, your (I-hope-soon-to-be) backyard and Daisy's high chair creative repair! I think Dadaw would love for Johnathan to carve out a little garden spot out of the football field :)

Oh, I'll go one beyond Harry Potter & say "Harry Potter & the Sorcerer's Stone". My question for J is, did she fall asleep during the first chapter you read to her?
